Round 2: Join next color in ch-2 sp, (beg 2-dc cl, ch 2, shell, ch 1) in same sp. [Corner shell, ch 1] × 2 in next ch-2 sps. (Shell, ch 2, 2-dc cl, ch 1) in next sp. Join in beg cl. Fasten off. (6 shells, 2 clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 4 ch-1 sps)

Assembly – Outer Ring

Arrange Large Squares for Outer Ring as in Placement Diagram. With RS facing, whipstitch squares together.

Center Ring

Rows 1–15: Work shells and decreases as in original instructions, alternating colors. The Center Ring gradually narrows row by row.

Inner Ring – Small Squares (Make 12)

Round 1 (RS): With first color, ch 4, join in first ch to form a ring, beg shell in ring, ch 2, [shell, ch 2] × 3. Join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (4 shells, 4 ch-2 sps)

Final Assembly

Arrange Small Squares for Inner Ring as in Placement Diagram. With RS facing, whipstitch the Small Squares together.

Join Inner Ring to Center Ring by whipstitching along the longer edges with RS facing.

Edging

Round 1 (RS): Join red in corner of Inner Ring to begin working across inner edge.

Ch 1, sc in each st across inner edge.

Work 3 sc in each corner.

Along side openings: sc evenly to next corner.

Along outer edge: 1 sc in each dc and ch-1 sp, and 2 sc in each ch-2 corner sp across the 14 squares.

Finish with 3 sc in last corner, sc evenly across remaining opening, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
